About Me

Hi!

I’m Luke Marchant

I grew up on my family’s ranch, where I spent countless hours helping my father move the hand lines and wheel lines that irrigated our hay. Water was always a critical issue—some years we had just enough, and other years we faced shortages. Watching how much time and effort went into managing our water, I started to wonder why some ranchers struggled to secure their water rights while others seemed to have plenty. My curiosity about water rights grew from those real-life challenges, and I knew I wanted to find solutions.

That curiosity led me to attend the University of Idaho College of Law, where I earned my law degree and a Master of Science in Water Resources. With firsthand experience of the struggles ranchers face, I’ve made it my mission to help farmers and ranchers protect their access to water.

Today, as a partner at Darrington Marchant, I use my years of experience representing farmers, ranchers, developers, and water organizations to focus on one goal—helping my clients secure and safeguard their water rights. Whether it’s dealing with ditch disputes, acquiring new water rights, transferring existing rights, or ensuring compliance, I provide real solutions that address the unique water challenges Idaho’s water users face. I’m here to protect the water you rely on, so you can focus on what you do best—running your farm or ranch.
